I may have written more about the New Zealand economy than any other economist, having produced daily and weekly commentaries from 1987-1993, then weekly, monthly, quarterly, and many one-off pieces of analysis from 1993 through to 2019. At one time I was the most interviewed economist in New Zealand and was awarded the Residential Economist of the Year award in 2011. I also spent a year and a half chatting about the economy each morning with Paul Holmes from 1992-93, and before that had a 5.30am slot on Radio Pacific discussing exchange rates. Currently
I have a fortnightly column on property matters in the Sunday Star-Times and write a weekly publication available on the Publications page and by subscribing on my website.
What I concentrate on and where my true area of expertise lies, is translating the arcane world of economic developments and trends into a language understandable by most people in the business and home buying sectors.
I inspire people to action and loyalty by leading from the front and I have a strong track record of formulating and implementing effective strategies to bring about rapid and sustainable change within organisations. There have been many such projects over the course of my life – but some of these, of which I am most proud, include:
Serving 9 years (3 terms) as the youngest person ever elected to the Napier City Council
Transforming the Property Institute of New Zealand into one of the nations highest profile membership advocacy and education organisations for property professionals
Transforming the Auckland Property Investors Association into a successful commercial entity – doubling membership and dramatically increasing revenue
Tangibly influencing public policy in New Zealand by being a constructive commentator on a variety of social, economic and infrastructural issues over more than 30 years
Investor, author, entrepreneur and seminar speaker, Lisa Dudson is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading personal wealth educators in the property and personal financial sectors. She began investing when she was just 16 years of age, owns a diversified portfolio of investments and has developed and run several businesses. She loves nothing more than helping people grow their wealth through the identification of financial goals and astute, informed decision-making.
Her wealth of expertise means Lisa is often called upon by media to comment on financial issues. She has written hundreds of articles and been a columnist for numerous publications, including The New Zealand Herald, Sunday Star Times, Woman’s Day and Yahoo.co.nz. She is a regular contributor to morning television, with appearances on The AM Show, having also appeared on Breakfast, 7 Sharp, Good Morning, 60 Minutes, House Calls and TV3 News.
Born and bred in Christchurch, I started my career in the NZ Army. Ambitious and driven, I ended a long, successful instructional army career to transfer my motivational and training skills into the business sector. The transition from the Army to commission-only sales was rocky to say the least with some very challenging times including great personal loss. However I refused to quit despite the circumstances and courageously chose to “Live A Life of my Dreams”.
Starting Life NZ as a business coach after a simple request from a business owner in need of some professional advice regarding a crucial staff issue over ten years ago. From these humble beginnings, I have gone on to work with hundreds of businesses from all industries throughout New Zealand, helping them by speaking, training and coaching bringing clarity, giving them focus and courage to take the next necessary steps required to achieve successful outcomes.
Shaun’s clients value how he easily relates to them and understands their goals, before recommending efficient action plans.
Loyal and results focused, Shaun is respected for his vast international property expertise and relationship building abilities. He works hard to ensure his clients get the best out of every situation.
Shaun kicked off his legal career in 2001, focusing on property, commercial law, trusts and estate planning. Today he is well-connected and draws on his deep market knowledge to advise large nationwide and publicly listed companies, SMEs and families, on all types of property transactions, structures and estate planning.
On the inside, he is the firm’s go-to for everything property-related, and anything that requires a level headed response.
On the outside, he is incredibly active, spending time with his young family, carving up the mountains and sea, hitting the green (golf and rugby) and fishing.
I grew up in Warkworth, the son of a respected farm accountant. I’ve been a chartered accountant in public practice my entire career, I founded Withers Tsang with my business partner Stephen Tsang, in 1998.
I’m a regular commentator on property tax matters, and the author of “Property Tax – A NZ investors Guide”, the first book on the subject to be published in New Zealand. I am also a residential and commercial property investor and am a life member of the Auckland Property Investors Association.
Outside of professional life, I enjoy adventures with my two sons. I volunteer as a radio operator for the coast guard and am a keen recreational boatie. I enjoy tag and release game fishing and have twice won the right to compete at the World Billfishing Championships in Costa Rica.
Over my career I have helped countless property investors and developers successfully navigate the tax laws relating to land in NZ and have guided client decision making on property ventures. I am proud of having made a genuine contribution to our clients’ wealth creation strategies.
The eldest of four children, Sue Tierney started life in Christchurch in a family where every dollar was precious.
Sue left full-time education with few qualifications. Landing a job as a bank teller, she swiftly made the move into commercial and rural lending. Sue found she loved working with customers and representing their business to the bank (and vice versa). “Sometimes the bank would require a cashflow projection and the farmer wouldn’t know how to put one together. I’d ask for their accounts, then help them work out the figures. It was all about communication and getting involved in people’s lives.”
As a Mortgage Broker, I help you close the deal on a residential or investment property purchase by leveraging our relationships with a wide range of lenders. We’ll take the time to understand your needs and provide expert guidance on all your options.
Many people focus on the interest rate above all else, and forget that financial success depends on many factors.
